The iPad app from Appybook has been launched this weekend! I downloaded it immediately, because Appybook looked promising from the start. Not expensive and a lot of fun for your money! The books are great. Very interactive, with music, games and locations indicated with a star to click on and make something happen. My daughter spend an hour reading ‘the giraffes’ birthday’ yesterday. She actually loved the last page, with a birthday song and the possibility to launch balloons. She read it over and over again. ‘The library book’ is a lot of fun too. You can choose to have the story read for you or for the older children, to read themselves. In meantime kids can play games, make puzzles, mazes and colour pictures. Appybook works together with various publishers and they have a lot of other books sceduled to launch! Cooking for little stars

If you are the parent of a young child and are quite busy but does see the importance of your
(and especially your childs’) health? If you’d like to prepare a healthy meal, but often lack time? You have to stay reading, because I now have a great tip for you. Childrens’books museum

 If you are still looking for things to do this summer with your kids, I have a recommandation: the Kinderboekenmuseum in Den Haag (childrens’books museum). I went there last weekend with my husband and kids and really liked it. It was pooring outside, so the perfect weather for a trip to the museum. Strangely it wasn’t that crowded. I went there about 12 years ago and they sure changed a lot. In a positive way. Very interactive, kids will be well entertained. When you buy the ticket they get a slurper, a kind of watch. The visit starts with a short film about the literary land Papiria, that needs to be saved from the Inkgreed. The kids are the heroes and get help from the various childrens’books caracters. I was very impressed by the enormous bookwall they build. Sterre is 4 years old, and she liked it, although she can’t read yet. From 6 years and up it gets easier. Very suitable for her age was the Kikker exhibition. A very nice setup, with all kind of activities for young children. All together a very succesful daytrip. You can easily spend an afternoon here!

DutchyPuppy

The Dutchypuppy Foundation is founded by Bridget Maasland and other dog lovers to help dogs across the world. WatLief sells DutchyPuppy in her webshop. The really great t-shirts have dogs as main topic, but they have lots of other shirts with different topics. I was charmed by the yellow icecream stand shirt, that I love for my boy this summer. Little Lady Tea Party

We just lived through the birthday party, but if you still have to plan a birthday party I can recommend the book Little Lady Tea Party. I received a copy to look through and my daughter and me where dreaming away enjoying the delicious cupcakes and bright colors. Little Lady Tea Party got their inspiration from the traditional English tea party, but they transformed into a creative, colorful and kitch party, especially for big and little girls and princesses. Decoration and snacks in bright pink, exhuberant flowers and beautifully dressed up barbie dolls. They also added a sheet of stickers to decorate your invitations for example. And in the back of the book they enclosed some really usefull stencils. You can xerox them in any size you want to hang them up as decoration on a serpentine or on put them on the wall above the tea table. They will publish another book for Birthday parties soon, called Tropical Garden Party.

Children’s book: de Bremer Stadsmuzikanten

I love childrens books. Thank god my kids too. They are easy going, can read for hours and hours on the couch with their mummy. I started reading with my kids at the age of 3 months. Mostly because I enjoy reading myself, but they also learn to talk early because of the reading I think. I love the book with the wallpaper animals: de Bremer Stadsmuzikanten. It’s a creative wonder! This book, made by Inke Heiland (famous of the wallpaper animals) and published by Publisher David en Goliat is very hip. The story is exciting, a Grimm fairytale designed in a special way. My daughter loves it, and I do too. It’s really something different, and in a way a bit sturdy.
